State-level function to mark Karnail Singh Issru's martyrdom

On the martyrdom day of the first martyr of the Goa Liberation movement Karnail Singh Issru, the state level function is being organised by the state government on August 15 at Grain Market of Issru village, the native village of the martyr near here.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his Cabinet colleagues are expected to grace the occasion to pay homage to the martyr, said MLA Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who accompanied senior administrative officers to oversee arrangements for preparations for the mega event.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh Bains and SDM Manjit Kaur held meetings with officials from various departments and reviewed the preparations.

Officials said adequate arrangements were being made for the safety of those attending the function.

The administration has planned to erect a waterproof pandal for housing the audience and performers. Senior functionaries of various departments have been deployed to make arrangements for comfortable sitting arrangements, hygienic food and water and temporary lavatories for the audience who are expected to reach in large numbers.

Duties have been assigned for painting the statue of Shaheed Karnail Singh Issru, claimed the officials.
