Step-father held for raping 13-year-old

Ludhiana, April 25

A 55-year-old man has been arrested by the Focal Point police for raping his 13-year-old step-daughter. The suspect had also impregnated the girl. The suspect has been identified as Ramesh Sahni, a resident of Jeevan Nagar.

The complainant (suspect’s second wife) told the police that she solemnised second marriage with Ramesh about 10 years ago. She had seven children from her first marriage of which three daughters were married while two boys and three girls were unmarried.

“From the past eight days, my daughter had been facing some health issues and she also got a swollen stomach,” the complainant stated.

“Suspecting something wrong, when I asked my daughter, she revealed that her step father had been raping her from the past six months,” alleged the victim’s mother.

The complainant took her daughter to a hospital where it was detected that she was four months pregnant. A complaint was lodged at police station and suspect was arrested. — TNS
