Ludhiana, June 18

In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, president of the All-Industries Trade Forum (AITF) Badish Jindal said: “The economy of the country will never improve if no strict action is taken against the corrupt officials and politicians.”

“After the imposition of the GST, there has been a spate of tax scams in the country. Several large-scale scams are being reported on a daily basis, but the state governments remain a silent spectator, and corrupt officials are taking advantage of this tax system. The silence of the governments on this corruption also highlights their silent participation,” alleged Jindal in the letter.

Talking about the GST tax system, Jindal said passers are active in the GST tax system at the state and inter-state levels, so that one can get their goods without any invoice, anywhere in the country.

“Though the AITF had sent hundreds of complaints to the authorities concerned, no action was taken against tax evaders. Even after big scams were unearthed in Ludhiana and Fatehgarh Sahib, no action was taken against the guilty. The real motive of imposing the GST has failed miserably,” rued Jindal.
