The Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana, formed a ‘Team Hariyali’ here on Thursday.
AS Ranga, Commissioner of Customs, started the plantation drive of the team by planting a ‘GST Tree’ to mark the first anniversary of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the Customs office in Sahnewal.
The motto of the team is to create awareness about the environment protection and indirect taxes by planting ‘GST Trees’.
Team Hariyali, consisting of 25 members, has a target to plant 10,000 ‘GST Trees’ this monsoon. For this, officers, members of the trade were motivated to download the ‘I-Hariyali’ App developed by the Forest Department, under the ‘Tandarust Punjab’ mission.
Through this application, one can get 15 saplings for free from the nearby government nursery. Till date, 'Team Hariyali' has planted 1,500 saplings on the office premises, in nearby villages and on the Delhi-Amritsar GT Road
