The Sri Aurobindo Socio Economic and Management Research Institute Trust presented the theatrical production "Humare Ram" at The Mother Auditorium, Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management.
The inaugural ceremony was followed by the main theatrical presentation and was attended by academicians, cultural enthusiasts, dignitaries and members of the community.
Inspired by the timeless epic, the Ramayana, Humare Ram offered a powerful stage interpretation highlighting enduring values of dharma, leadership, moral responsibility, and humanity. Through compelling performances and evocative narration, the production brought alive the emotional depth and contemporary relevance of the epic.
For the first time, Humare Ram brings several scenes from the Ramayana that have never been shown on stage. The play begins from the perspective of Lava and Kusha after their mother Sita takes final refuge in the arms of Bhumi. The angry sons pose certain questions about their mother to their father, Lord Rama.
Through the perspective of Lord Surya, the play takes the audience on a journey of the love, ordeals, trials and triumphs of Lord Rama and Sita. The presentation featured acclaimed performers Ashutosh Rana and Rahull R Bhuchar, whose nuanced portrayals held the audience throughout the performance.
The successful staging of Humare Ram marked a significant cultural initiative by the trust, reaffirming the role of theatre as a powerful medium for dialogue, introspection, and shared heritage.
“The play is a three-hour spectacular journey. Ashutosh Rana is beyond excellence. It was a fabulous experience. I don’t think I have seen a play like this before,” said a woman from the audience.
