Ludhiana, June 24

Thieves have not even spared the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. They have stolen 80 feet of pipes of air-conditioners fitted in the mortuary.

There are seven air-conditioners in the mortuary. On Wednesday, the thieves had decamped with the pipes of two air-conditioners. Today when members of the Samvedna Trust, an NGO, went there to get the estimate of new pipe fitting, it was found that the remaining pipes had also been stolen. Now, only one air-conditioner is working.

“In the morning, we went to the mortuary to get the estimate of pipe fitting. We came to know that the pipes of all the other ACs were also missing. The estimated cost of fitting new pipes is Rs 40,000 which is too big for our NGO to bear. We have brought the matter to the notice of Senior Medical Officer Geeta,” said Judgepreet Singh, manager of Samvedna Trust.

Meanwhile, Dr Geeta said she had filed a complaint in this regard and would be lodging an FIR with the police tomorrow.
