Three members of interstate gang of burglars arrested
The Ludhiana police claimed to have busted an interstate gang of burglars which has been involved in thefts of vehicles and valuables in areas falling under Punjab and adjoining states, including Haryana and Rajasthan, and nabbed three of its members.
Stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees have been recovered from the possession of the suspects, who were arrested from different places on Monday. Two motorcycles, one Bolero pick-up vehicle, seven mobile phones, LEDs and twelve boxes of liquor were recovered from the suspects. The items were stolen from various places.
The nabbed suspects were identified as Raju Ram of Ram Nagar Sangrur, Neelu alias Sonu of Basti Aawa Ferozepur and Satinder Deep Singh of Malaudh village.
The kingpin of the gang, Amrik Singh, of Ramgarh Sardaran village in Ludhiana district was yet to be arrested.
DSP Inderjit Singh Boparai said the suspects were identified and later arrested during investigation conducted by police personnel, led by SHO (City) Varinder Pal Singh, in connection with a theft case registered on Saturday. The suspects had burgled a mobile phone shop owned by Kamal Kumar of Raikot.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects used to conduct recce of their targets by visiting their areas as customers and then strike at midnight.
Though the criminal record of the suspects was yet to be verified, the kingpin of the gang, who is still at large, is reported to be facing 15-20 criminal cases.
