Tiger Safari out of bounds

LUDHIANA: While the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh visited the Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Memorial from around 12.20 pm to 1 pm, the Tiger Safari, which is next to the the museum remained inaccessible to general public.

While the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh visited the Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Memorial from around 12.20 pm to 1 pm, the Tiger Safari, which is next to the the museum remained inaccessible to general public.

The zoo, which closes only on Republic Day, Independence Day and Gandhi Jayanti apart from Monday, remained closed till 1.15 pm for public.

The policemen remained outside the zoo for security reasons until the event concluded at the museum got over.

Nirvair Singh, a zoo contractor said nobody was allowed to enter even the road leading to the museum and zoo.

Nirvair said, “Due to security nobody turned up till the afternoon. The entry ticket to the zoo is Rs 20 and ticket for the Tiger enclosure round is Rs 50. Around 150 people visit the zoo on weekdays and the figure touches around 600 on weekend.”

“I have come again after a couple of hours. Such visits of politicians cause inconvenience to the public at large,” said Mukesh, a visitor.
