Ludhiana, October 24

The Ludhiana police have made adequate security arrangements for the Dasehra celebrations in the industrial hub. All police station heads have been told to check security aspects at the places where the festival is being celebrated.

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal said a few committees had sought permission for the celebrations with the undertaking that they would ensure social distancing and a gathering of up to 200 persons. Our cops will ensure social distancing and masking at Dasehra grounds. We have also strictly told the Dasehra committees to ensure the compliance of the Covid-19 guidelines at all venues. The CP said people should avoid visiting the Dasehra grounds. The Dasehra committees had been told to relay live the programme on the Facebook or YouTube.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, J Elanchezhian, said police station cops, PCR cops and traffic cops would jointly manage security and traffic arrangements in and around the Dasehra grounds. Special police teams had also been formed to tackle any emergency.

Cops in civvies will also patrol the city to check any miscreants, said Elanchezhian. ADCP 1 Deepak Pareek today went to the Daresi Dasehra ground to oversee the security arrangements. He said the public should prefer watching Dasehra live on the social media to physically visiting various venues.
