Two groups clash in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, November 21

Two groups that were engaged in gambling at Chawni Mohalla clashed and members of one group fired gunshots at the other group members last night. No one suffered injuries in the firing.

The police booked some persons. Those booked were identified as Rohit Thakur and Rinki of the Daresi road, Jinki Sahota of Meena Bazaar, Shiva and some unknown persons.

Complainant Munish Kumar of Chawni Mohalla said his father was working in the MC. Last night he, along with Jinki, Rinki, Shiva and Rohit, was gambling near the Daresi ground. Shiva had lost all money, while he won Rs 1.5 lakh.

Around 10 pm, his father and father’s sister were standing near his house when Rohit, Jinki, Rinki and unknown persons, armed with sharp weapons and guns, cornered him. Before he could understand anything, Rohit told his aides to kill him (me) and also asked them to snatch the money won, he alleged.

“When I protested the move of the accused, they fired gunshots at me and my father, but we didn’t suffer any injury,” alleged the victim. — TNS
