Two injured, 3 vehicles burnt as groups clash in Ludhiana

At least three vehicles were damaged when a group of miscreants attacked members of a family at EWS Colony falling under the jurisdiction of Division No. 7 police station at midnight on Thursday.

The miscreants had also stoned houses and other vehicles to create panic before fleeing as the cops arrived. It is being said that more loss of property could have taken place had the cops not acted promptly.

Though the police are yet to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the clash, old rivalry is suspected to be the reason.

The complainant, Varun Kumar, informed the police that miscreants had set his Wagon-R car and two other motorcycles on fire by throwing petrol bombs besides attacking residents with sharp weapons.

Two persons were injured in the incident, Varun said. “They didn’t bother whether the victim was a woman or an elderly person,” he added.

Tanya, a resident, whose one brother was killed in a bloody clash at the local civil hospital in 2022 alleged that the miscreants had now threatened to eliminate her other brother. “The told me that they were behind his death and that they would now kill the other one,” Tanya told the police.

Complainants alleged that the miscreants, who were involved in drug trafficking, had attacked them when they had come on bail.

Balwinder Singh, IO, has initiated a probe after registering an FIR.
