Ludhiana, July 28

Two rape cases have been reported in the district. In one case, a man raped his 13-year-old niece while in the other, a neighbour violated a 14-year-old girl.

A UP native, who lives at Haibowal, told the PAU police that her daughter worked as domestic help at Kitchlu Nagar. On July 25 when her daughter returned home, she was visibly tense. When she politely asked the girl what was the reason for her being depressed, she revealed that she had become friends with Ajay and she used to meet him daily.

The victim said: “On July 25, the suspect, on the pretext of going to a park, took me to a house. He first offered me something to eat and then raped me.”

The investigating officer, SI Manjinder Kaur, said the suspect had been arrested.

In the other case registered at the Jagraon police station, a 13-year-old girl was raped by her uncle (husband of her mother’s sister). The complainant told the police that she had gone to Dubai in 2010, leaving her daughter at the house of her sister.

When she returned from Dubai after 10 years, she came to know that the suspect had been raping her daughter.

The complainant said her mother Paramjit Kaur was also aware of the matter but she didn’t take any action. She was also booked in the case.
