A woman of Ghawadi village allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her in-laws’ residence. The Dehlon police have registered a case against her husband Charanjit Singh Ghugi.
The complainant, Gurpreet Kaur told the police that her elder daughter, Amandeep Kaur (19), got married to Charanjit about two months ago. Both had a love affair.
She alleged that soon after the marriage, her son-in-law started torturing Amandeep for want of dowry and for other reasons.
He was told to keep cordial relations with the girl but he didn’t budge.
The complainant said she got a call from her son-in-law who said her daughter had committed suicide on the night of August 7. “I, along with my husband, rushed to the house,” she said.
No suicide was recovered from the spot No suicide note was recovered from the spot. ASI Ranjit Singh, said raids were being conducted to nab the suspect.
