Two patients die of Covid-19 in Ludhiana

Ludhiana, July 1

An 18-year-old male Covid patient from Raniya village, Alamgir, died at the Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, today. He had blunt trauma (abdomen and chest). Another 71-year-old female Covid patient from Basti Jodhewal, suffering from diabetes and respiratory ailment, succumbed at the CMCH today. With this, the total number of coronavirus deaths in the Ludhiana district has reached 22 while the count of deaths reported from other places is 23.

Besides, 29 more Covid positive cases have been reported in the Ludhiana district during the last 24 hours. Out of the total 45 cases pending with the Health Department yesterday, 34 samples have tested negative while report of other 11 cases has come out positive.

As many as 13 Covid positive cases have been reported from the DMCH. Other cases were reported from separate hospitals, including three patients, who had come from Jalandhar, Nabha and Agra, respectively.

Among these 29 positive patients, one is an additional SHO of Mullanpur Dakha.

Samples of 638 persons were collected out of which result of 568 was negative while report of 70 was awaited.

Covid positive patients have been reported from areas like Jagraon, Azad Nagar, Dashmesh Nagar, Janakpuri, Jamalpur, Sherpur, BRS Nagar, Bhai Himmat Singh Nagar, Dehlon Nagar, Bhagwan Chowk, Basti Jodhewal, Janta Nagar, Dugri, Kanganwal Road, Millarganj, Khanna, Civil Lines, Daad, Aggar Nagar and Pakhowal Road. Many positive patients have contact history with persons already suffering from the virus.

The number of positive cases in the Ludhiana district has reached 865 while those from other districts and states is 200.

3 containment, 6 micro containmnet zones set-up

To check the spread of Covid- 19, three containment and six new micro containment zones have been declared in Ludhiana district. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Sharma said, "The first containment zone includes Habib Ganj, Sainsi Mohalla and Islamganj, second Prem Nagar and third New Ashok Nagar ABC Salem Tabri."

“Similarly, the micro containment zones, include Samrat Colony Giaspura, New Ashok Nagar (Street No. 1 behind Duke Factory); New Kartar Nagar in Salem Tabri; Basant Avenue, Phase 2, Dugri; Guru Harkrishan Nagar, Giaspura; Ram Nagar Street No. 21; Vishwakarma Colony behind Sangeet Cinema; New Model Town (Street No. 1, 2 and 3 behind Dhamija Medical); New Janta Nagar (Street No. 1, 2 and 3 opposite Arora Palace) and Bhamian Khurd (Krishna Colony street No. 1 to 4),” the DC added.

“All these areas have been sealed and departments concerned been asked to take necessary action,” the DC said.
