UCPMA urges CM to release VAT refund

Ludhiana, November 21

A delegation from the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA) met Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh under the leadership of Inderjit Singh Navyug on Wednesday.

The members of delegation the discussed various issues faced by bicycle industry, including pending value added tax (VAT) which had been replaced by goods and services tax (GST) in July 2017.

The delegation members added that huge amount of VAT refund has been lying pending with the state government which is essential for the industry. As a result, small scale manufacturers were facing cash crunch and banks were also levying hefty interest rates. This has lead to reduction of business growth.

They also asked for limit of E-Way Bill to be increased from Rs 50,000 to one lakh.

“As Ludhiana is known as Manchester of India and is a major export hub, infrastructure plays an important role. Industrial areas and Focal Points are in bad shape, all the major roads are broken and have been encroached. It is our humble request that roads should be recarpeted and face lift should be given so that foreign customers show their interest in Indian goods,” said the delegation.

The association members also presented a trophy to Chief Minister on the occasion of 50 years of the UCPMA.
