Valmiki Jayanti celebrated

Ludhiana: DD Jain College of Education celebrated Valmiki Jayanti with great pomp and show to pay tributes to great saint Maharishi Valmiki ji, who is regarded as "Adi Kavi".



Ludhiana: DD Jain College of Education celebrated Valmiki Jayanti with great pomp and show to pay tributes to great saint Maharishi Valmiki ji, who is regarded as "Adi Kavi". He was a great sage and author of the epic "Ramayana" which consists of 24,000 verses and seven cantos (Kandas) including the Uttara canto. On this occasion, the students presented a number of literary activities including papers and discussed elaborately about the life sketch of the great literary genius and his philosophy with the help of power point presentations.

Seminar on ‘Trends in IT’

The department of computer applications of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), organised a seminar on “Trends in IT and Digital transformation”. Dr Hardeep Singh, from department of computer sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was the resource person for the day. He initiated the session by enriching the students with the lastest updates in the world of computers. He highlighted the concepts of Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing, mobile devices, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business 4.0 as the emerging IT fields that have far reaching influence on human lives. He explained the idea of smart homes and smart devices such as refrigerators, air conditioners that could be made a part of the network for smart and convenient actions of the users.

Lecture on sustainable growth 

The second day of international conference entitled “Sustainability Issues in commerce and management” at Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana witnessed a great response by the research scholars and delegates. There were two technical sessions, chaired by Dr Keshav Malhotra and Dr BS Virk and Dr Jaspal Singh. Around 90 research papers were presented by the research scholars, delegates and students who had come from various Indian and foreign institutions. Through this seminar, it was conveyed that the intellectual dilemma, which the contemporary management is facing, aims to strike a balance between economic growth, human well being and achievement of a sustainable future. 

Rajinder bags wushu gold  

Rajinder Singh, student of MA-I English of Gobindgarh Public College, Alour, Khanna brought laurels by winning gold in the 90-kg weight category in the 27th Sr National Wushu Championship held at Shillong (Meghalya) from October 13 to 15. The event was organised by Wushu Federation of India, New Delhi. Rajinder also got selected for the 7th World Wushu Championship which will be held at Himaju (China) from October 25-28. Principal Neena Seth Pajni said it is a matter of great honour and pride for the school and the entire country. His participation at international-level will be an inspiration for other students. Raj Goyal, Chairman, GPC, also congratulated Rajinder for his stupendous achievement.

Blood donation camp held

The NSS unit of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management organised its annual blood donation camp October 23 in association with Blood Sewa Social Welfare Society. A team of six doctors from Shree Raghunath Hospital visited the college and motivated the students to donate blood. In total volunteers donated 102 units of blood. Director Education Dr Sushil Kumar and Principal Dr RL Behl along with NSS faculty coordinators Prof Sarita Arora, Prof Jinesh Jain and Prof Esha Jain were also present to appreciate the blood donors.
