Varsity bags Rs 30-crore World Bank project

LUDHIANA: Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, has bagged a prestigious World Bank project to the tune of Rs 30 crore, under the National Agricultural Higher Education Programme of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, has bagged a prestigious World Bank project to the tune of Rs 30 crore, under the National Agricultural Higher Education Programme of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

The project titled ‘Improving Learning Outcome, Skill and Entrepreneurship at GADVASU’ is a first-of-its kind, aimed to improve the competency and skill of undergraduate students, apart from modernisation of classrooms.

In this programme, the university will organise various workshops/practical training programmes, visits to industries and other national and international institutes to inculcate the entrepreneurship among the students.

The launch workshop was organised to initiate all the activities of the project. Dr RC Agrawal, ICAR-Deputy Director General (Education) and National Director, National Agricultural Higher Education Project, was the chief guest for the workshop and Dr AS Nanda, the Vice-Chancellor presided over the function. The workshop was attended by UG students, faculty members and officers of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Agrawal highlighted the importance of the project and urged all the students to become job providers than job seekers. He said in this project, students will get a chance to improve their professional acumen by working in the institutions of international repute.

Dr PS Brar, Dean College of Veterinary Science and Principal Investigator of the project, opined that this project would bring a substantial improvement in teaching methodologies at undergraduate level. He asserted that it would improve the practical competency of students and inculcate the ethos and spirit of entrepreneurship among them.

Dr AS Nanda emphasised that relying on safe and secure jobs is not enough and one should step forward to creating new job avenues for others.
