Vatta is new head of PAU economics dept

Ludhiana, April 8

Punjab Agricultural University has appointed Dr Kamal Vatta new head of department of economics and sociology.

A gold medallist in PhD in Agri Economics from PAU, he topped in the advanced diploma in agricultural research for development from International Centre for Development Oriented Research in Agriculture, the Netherlands, in 2002. He has also undergone advanced training in quantitative economics at Columbia University, New York, US.

As many as 20 international and national-level projects with a total funding of about Rs25 crore have been credited to him. Prior to this, he had been the Director of Centres for International Projects Trust, New Delhi, and an affiliate of Columbia Water Center, US. He has been an adjunct research scientist with Columbia Water Center and a visiting researcher to Kobe University, Japan, and Kazakh National Agrarian University, Kazakhstan. Besides, he has also developed partnerships with the Tokyo University; Institute of Developing Economies, Japan; Kyoto University, Japan; United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and International Development Research Center (IDRC), Canada. — TNS
