The Department of Livestock Production Management of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) organised a week-long advanced-entrepreneurship skill development programme on ‘Scientific Dairy Farming, Value Chain Addition, and Marketing to Augment Farmers’ Income”. Twenty participants attended the course, which was sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.

During the valedictory session, Dr Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor and chief guest, interacted with the trainees and urged them to come up with innovative ideas in the livestock sector. He motivated them to open innovative startups to make impactful ventures. He said the agenda of the programme was to enhance the knowledge and entrepreneurship competencies among new entrants as well as existing dairy farmers for their sustainability in the dairy sector of Punjab.

Dr Anil Kumar Arora, Director of Research, said the MSME sector was a nursery of entrepreneurship, often driven by individual creativity and innovation. He said MSMEs played an important role in the wider ecosystem of firms, startups, and young firms, which were the primary source of net job creation and the driving force of innovation.
