Vet varsity holds skill training on scientific dairy farming in Ludhiana
Organised under the aegis of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), New Delhi
The Department of Livestock Production Management at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University here organised an advanced entrepreneurship skill development programme on scientific dairy farming, value chain addition and marketing to augment farmers’ income, said officials.
They said the programme was organised under the aegis of Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), New Delhi. The training brought together 20 graduates from across the state with diverse educational backgrounds and a common interest in starting or expanding dairy-based enterprises, startups or ventures.
Jatinder Paul Singh Gill, Vice-Chancellor, said dairy entrepreneurship is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring food security, promoting rural development and improving the socio-economic status of farmers across the state with the increasing demand for milk and milk products in the current scenario.
SS Randhawa, dean, College of Veterinary Science, interacted with the participants and said such programmes help individuals in developing innovative ideas, products and services based on regional needs and market demand.
RS Grewal, director, Extension Education, and course director, said the university is helping in strengthening the ecosystem for micro and small businesses to promote self-reliance and sustainable entrepreneurship in the dairy sector.
