Vrindavan boat tragedy: Body of daughter recovered 2 days after mother's from Yamuna

Two days after the Vrindavan boat tragedy that snuffed out 11 lives of Punjab residents, the body of another victim, Dinky Bansal, of Ludhiana city has been recovered. With this, the death toll has reached 12.

The bodies of 11 deceased were consigned to the flames on Saturday.

Notably, on Friday afternoon a boat carrying pilgrims had capsised in the Yamuna river in Uttar Pradesh.

Rakesh Garg, a relative of Meenu Bansal (who also died in boat tragedy), said that Meenu's body was recovered immediately after the tragedy while her daughter Dinky could not be traced. Divers and rescue teams carried out search operation for hours but to no avail. "Today morning we a got a call from an official of Vrindavan administration who informed about the recovery of Dinky’s body. We have been told that the body was stuck beneath the river and found floating early this morning," said Garg.

Garg also said that the body was shifted to the hospital in Vrindavan and same would reach Ludhiana on Sunday evening. Efforts are on to release body from hospital in Vrindavan so that it could reach here for cremation, he said.
