As the Municipal Corporation (MC) prepares a roadmap for setting up the ‘Waste to Energy’ plant for proper management of fresh waste generated in the city, the civic body invited three major firms having expertise in this field on Friday.

MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal said the aim was to get suggestions/inputs from these firms so that proper planning could be done for setting up the plant. SFC Environmental Technologies Limited, Re-Sustainability Limited (formerly known as Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited) and JITF Urban Infrastructure Limited (part of OP Jindal Group) are the firms that were invited on Friday.

Firstly, MC Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted a meeting with representatives of the firms at the MC’s Zone D office here, following which they were taken to the Jamalpur dumping site for field inspection.

He said for a long-term sustainable solution of the solid waste management in the city, known as the industrial hub of the state, the civic body was now working to set up a ‘Waste To Energy’ plant. The firms invited on Friday have expertise in the field.

Dachalwal said the legacy waste accumulated at the dump site would be disposed of in coming days as projects for the same had already been launched. Establishment of the ‘Waste to Energy’ plant would help in ensuring that no more waste gets accumulated again at the dump site and renewable energy could be generated from refuse.
