Ludhiana, July 12
In view of the ongoing construction of elevated road (Samrala Chowk to Ferozepur Road Octroi), Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu has assured the residents that soon, there would be no traffic congestion on Ferozepur Road and traffic would move smoothly.
The Mayor, Balkar Singh Sandhu today inspected the construction site. He was accompanied by councillor from Ward No. 67 Mamta Ashu and senior officials.
The Mayor directed the contractor concerned to formulate a plan within two days, so the slip road (starting from near Nanaksar Gurdwara to Bharat Nagar Chowk) is put to optimum use for the benefit of commuters. He also directed the contractor to remove bushes on some areas along Ferozepur Road where the slip road was yet to be constructed.
During a meeting held near Gurdwara Nanaksar, Mamta Ashu stated that the ongoing construction of elevated road had caused a lot of inconvenience to commuters, as the width of Ferozepur Road has narrowed down in some patches.
The contractor has been asked to submit a detailed plan clearly mentioning the measures to be taken for ensuring a smooth flow of traffic on portions where construction activity is taking place.
Mamta Ashu said they would not allow the contractor to start construction activity in any place until he formulated an alternative plan for traffic and got it approved by the authorities.
The police have been asked to make sure there is no encroachment on the road.
