Woman arrested with 7-gm heroin

Ludhiana: The police Division No. 7 have nabbed a woman smuggler and recovered 7 gm of heroin from her possession. The suspect has been identified as Sapna of Hardev Enclave. The police said secret information was received that a woman into drug smuggling trade was on the way to deliver drugs to her clients. Accordingly, a naka was laid at the T Point of the MIG Cut from where she was arrested, the police added. “A case under NDPS Act has been registered against the suspect,” the police said. TNS

Man held with 60 liquor bottles

Ludhiana: The Haibowal police have nabbed a liquor smuggler and recovered five cases of liquor from him. The suspect has been identified as Inderjit Singh of Z Block, Rishi Nagar. The police said during routine patrolling, a Tata Indigo car was stopped for checking on suspicion, which led to the recovery of illegal liquor. A case under the Excise Act has been registered against the suspect. TNS

14 booked for bid to murder

Ludhiana: The police Division No. 2 have booked 14 persons on the charge of attempt to murder. The suspects had attacked Gurdit Singh of Ashok Nagar on Tuesday due to some old enmity. The suspects have been identified as, Mahinder Singh, Bhala Singh, Sunny, Titli, Vicky and Kalu, all residents of Shimlapuri. Other suspects have been identified as Charlie, Mannu, Bobby, Panna, Satvir, Aman, Jeeti and Mani. On Tuesday, Gurdit along with two friends was heading to the house of their friend Gurmeet Singh in Islamganj on a scooter when the suspects attacked them with sharp weapons. The suspects have some old enmity with the victim, who is presently undergoing treatment at a hospital. ASI Baljit Singh said raids were on to nab the suspects. TNS
