Chandigarh: The Dugri police have registered a cheating case against a woman identified as Shaweta Sehgal of the Noorwala road. The suspect duped two girls of lakhs on the pretext of arranging job for them at a government college. Complainant Kulwant Singh of Dugri told the police that the suspect had assured him to arrange jobs for his and his friend’s daughter at a government college. She had taken Rs3.41 lakh from him, but she failed arrange job, the complainant added. Now, she also refused to return his money, the complainant said. TNS

Abetment to suicide: 2 booked

Chandigarh: The Sarabha Nagar police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Pankaj and Surjit Singh, both residents of Patiala, and some unknown persons. Complainant Ramnik Kunar of Rajguru Nagar told the police that suspect Pankaj was looking after accounts of his father’s business. The suspect had also taken property documents from his father due to which the former committed suicide , he added. ASI Sulakhan Singh said raids were on to nab the suspect. TNS
