Ludhiana, June 17
Within two days of the registration of a loot case at the Basti Jodhewal police station, cops claim to have unraveled the mystery behind the crime. The police arrested of house owner’s daughter-in-law, who faked loot.
In a press conference, the Police Commissioner (CP), Ludhiana, Rakesh Agrawal, said on June 15, Gurdev Singh of Hira Nagar, Kakowal Road, had submitted a complaint that he along with his son Amarjit Singh had gone to their factory and his daughter-in-law was alone at home.
Gurdev alleged that later, his daughter-in-law Rashnit Kaur called her husband while she was crying. His son then sent neighbours to inquire what had happened. The moment neighbours reached the house, they found Rashnit lying unconscious.
When the police reached the spot for investigation, the entire house was found ransacked, the CP added. Rashnit alleged that some unknown women entered the house and after hitting something on her head they fled with gold and cash, the CP said.
When a probe was initiated, Rashnit admitted that she had concocted the loot story as she wanted to help her parents, who were financially weak, the CP added. Rashnit was arrested by the police, the CP said.
“Never file a fake complaint with the police or else complainant will have to face legal action,” the CP added.
