Woman crushed to death by truck at Ludhiana’s Dholewal Chowk

Ludhiana’s Dholewal Chowk witnessed a tragic incident this morning as a woman travelling to work died in a mishap. She was riding pillion on a Rapido bike taxi. The rider lost control over the vehicle due to which it fell on the road. Following which, a speeding truck coming from the rear ran over her. The accident was so severe that the vehicle crushed her head, killing her on the spot.

According to information, the deceased has been identified as Suman Jain, who worked with a private company. As a matter of routine, she booked a Rapido bike on Friday morning and was on her way to work. As the bike approached Dholewal Chowk, it went out of control and slipped. As the bike fell, both the rider and the woman fell on the road. Unfortunately, she fell in front of a truck which crushed her to death. Before the driver could apply the brakes, its tyre ran over the woman’s head.

Suman was survived by her husband, two daughters and a son. Her husband, Rakesh Jain, works as the market head at the same organisation.

After the accident, a large crowd gathered at the scene, leading to a traffic jam. Acting swiftly, the police detained both the truck driver and the Rapido bike rider. The truck was also seized by them.

The police said the woman was crushed by a truck after the bike on which she was travelling fell on the road. The police detained the bike rider and the truck driver and started a probe. CCTV footage of the scene is also being examined.
