Woman dies, 670 fresh cases in Ludhiana district

Ludhiana, January 13

As many as 670 persons from the district have tested positive for Covid while one patient lost her life to the disease today. The patient was a 45-year-old woman from Shimlapuri here.

At present, there are 92,811 positive cases in the district and 2,127 persons have lost their lives so far. Those tested positive today include 49 healthcare workers and two police personnel while 139 are untraceable.

The active cases jumped to 4,870 while 4,787 persons were asked to go for home isolation today. At present, there are 142 Covid patients admitted to hospitals in the district. The recovery rate of patients has dipped to 92.46 per cent. Till date, 30,57,770 samples have been taken, of which 29,52,632 were found negative. As many as 6,601 samples of suspected patients were sent for testing today.

Assistant Civil Surgeon Vivek Kataria, his wife Dr Monika and SMO of Anti Retroviral Treatment Centre Harinder Sood were tested positive on Wednesday evening.

15 micro-containment zones

At present, there are 15 micro-containment zones in the district — New Prem Nagar; South City; Focal Point; Tagore Nagar; Dugri, Phase I; Udham Singh Nagar, Block C; Daulat Street, Civil Lines; Surya Vihar, Rishi Nagar; College Road; Sarabha Nagar, Block B; Sarabha Nagar, Block F; Sarabha Nagar, Block G; Sarabha Nagar, Block H; Sarabha Nagar, Block J; and Sarabha Nagar, Block K. — TNS

Civil Surgeon tests positive for Covid

Ludhiana Civil Surgeon SP Singh tested positive for Covid on Thursday. On Wednesday, his wife Dr Renuka, who is posted at the Civil Hospital, had tested positive after which Dr Singh got himself tested on Thursday.
