Woman gang-raped, 5 booked in Ludhiana

The Division 6 police have booked five persons on the charge of gang-raping a married woman. They took the woman to Sultanpur Lodhi on the pretext of reaching a compromise with her husband and raped her there.

Four of the suspects have been identified as Ajay Kumar, Sunil Kumar, both residents of Ferozepur, Vishal of Jalalabad and Raman Kumar of Ferozepur.

Rape accused Roshan still at large

Roshan Bala, who had raped a religious singer on the pretext of giving her a singing assignment, is still at large. Roshan Bala, a resident of New Laxmi Nagar, Haibowal, and his accomplice Raju Mann had raped the singer at the office of one of the suspects on the pretext of arranging a singing assignment for her.

The complainant, a resident of New Janta Nagar, Shimlapuri, told the police that she was pursuing a course in the ATI College. On August 20, she got a call from Raman, who told her that he wanted to take her to Ferozepur to reach a compromise with her husband. The woman said since she had separated from her husband over some dispute, she agreed to accompany Raman.

A few minutes later, he came in a car and she boarded the vehicle. When she asked Raman why she was being taken to Sultanpur Lodhi in Kapurthala district, he and his accomplices said her husband now worked in Sultanpur Lidhi, the woman alleged.

They took her to some isolated place where Raman and Ajay raped her while Sunil, Vishal and an unknown person left the place. Vishal is the woman’s brother-in-law.

After gang-raping the woman, the suspects threatened her not dire consequences if she revealed anything to her family. Next morning, they dropped her outside the bus stand in Ludhiana.

After reaching home, she narrated the incident to her sister, following which she lodged a complaint with the police.

The investigating officer, ASI Gurdev Lal, said a case of gang rape and kidnapping had been registered against the suspects and raids were being conducted to nab them.
