Woman 'marries' Ludhiana man for Canadian PR, leaves him later
Ludhiana police register case against the wife and her family members
A bride from Kapurthala, who got married in Ludhiana, broke off her relationship as soon as she obtained a permanent residency (PR) status in Canada.
She was married for only about two years when she left her husband and moved to another place in the same country.
Her husband tried to reason with her, but she refused.
When he informed his parents in Ludhiana about the incident, a police complaint was lodged.
The aggrieved family mentioned in the complaint that the woman had married their son solely to obtain a Canadian PR.
Jarnail Singh, a resident of Aman Nagar in Ludhiana, told the police in his complaint that his son, Mann Singh, a permanent resident of Canada, was married to Amandeep Kaur, a resident of Rihana Jattan village in Kapurthala, on February 10, 2024.
Shortly after their marriage, Mann and Amandeep moved to Canada. In the process, she received a Canadian PR and later left her husband and moved elsewhere.
Jarnail Singh further alleged that Amandeep ‘used’ his son solely to settle abroad.
Following an investigation, a case was registered against the four accused, Amandeep Kaur (wife) of Mann Singh, Balbir Singh (father-in-law), Jasvir Singh (brother-in-law) and one Gurvinder Singh residents of village Bhora village, Kapurthala were booked by the police.
Further investigation is under way.
