The recovery of a young woman’s body near the Alamgir Bypass in the Dugri area on Tuesday created a panic in the area. Initially, people thought it was garbage.
When it was checked, a body was found in the sack. The police were informed and officials from the Dugri police station reached the scene. As police officials opened the sack, the body of a woman was found.
The police took the body into custody and sent it to the Civil Hospital mortuary.
CCTV cameras are also being checked to identify those who dumped the body. The deceased was yet to be identified. She is believed to be between 30 and 35 years old. Initial investigations suggest that someone dumped the body there at night.
Sanjay Tiwari said: “I received a call around 9:30 am from some people, informing me that a sack was lying near the bypass. When I reached the spot, I saw hands hanging out of the sack, which confirmed the presence of the body in it. Afterwards, I informed the police.”
Investigating officer ASI Amolak Singh said the police launched a probe and once the identity of the deceased was confirmed, the reason of murder would be cleared. No injuries or other marks were found on the woman’s body.
