Ludhiana, May 23
There were a few workers and supporters of the parties contesting the Ludhiana Lok Sabha seat at the counting centres on the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) campus today. Earlier, counting of votes used to be held in Vidhan Sabha constituencies and the centres witnessed a huge rush of supporters and workers.
The supporters and workers, who carried out intense campaigning against each other, watched counting process together in perfect harmony.
“No doubt we did intense campaigning but now, the elections are over and we hold no grudge against each another. We have done our job sincerely and whatever the outcome will be, we will accept it. There is no point in holding political grudge and making our relations sour,” said Satinderpal Singh Grewal, a Congress leader from Jagraon.
Akali workers also echoed similar views. “We live in a democratic set-up and every person has a right to vote for the party of his choice. We may be political opponents but we share good relations socially. Ideological and political differences will always remain there but it does not mean that we turn rivals,” said Inderjeet Singh Lamba of SAD.
