Ludhiana, July 17
Under mission “Tandrust Punjab”, numerous camps are being organised for students in Ludhiana district to make them aware about benefits of yoga. Block-level teams under a supervision of Ayurvedic Medical Officers have been training students.
District Immunisation Officer Dr Jasbir Singh said the Health Department is committed to make mission “Tandrust Punjab” successful.
He said the department is carrying out regular checks at food stalls and restaurants. Dr Singh said two teams each have been formed for each block and each team is led by an Ayurvedic Medical Officer.
“Ayurvedic Medical Officers have taken six-day-long special training in yoga. Till date more than 225 camps have been organised in different parts of the district,” he said.
“By doing yoga, students can get mental peace and stay fit. If children wash their hands properly, number of diseases they suffer from come down considerably. Students were also told about diseases such as diarrhea,” Dr Singh said.
He said attendance of students in camps was comparatively less as there were holidays but as schools have reopened, more camps will be organised.
