Police said the case under Sections 137 (2) and 96 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered on Wednesday based on a statement by the girl’s mother.
Police identified the accused as Prince, a native of Anegi village in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district.
The complainant also blamed the police of harassment on pretext of jurisdiction and nature of crime.
However, Jagdeep Singh Gill, Station-House Officer (SHO), said the case was registered immediately after the complainant, a resident of Khawajke village, recorded a statement with the police.
As per the FIR, the suspect allegedly lured the girl to the Ludhiana Railway Station on October 15, 2025. The girl’s mother brought her home the next day. The suspect and the victim allegedly stayed in Phillaur overnight.
Investigating officer Ranjiv Kumar said a prober was underway for verifying the charges.
