Station House Officer (SHO), Koom Kalan, inspector Paramdeep Singh, said the deceased was addicted to alcohol as per the initial investigation of the police. Villagers had cremated the deceased and informed the police later. No drugs or injection was recovered from the house of the deceased. Excess consumption of alcohol might have become the cause of his death.

Now, the villagers were claiming that the youth had died due to drug overdose. They should have informed the police first. At least post-mortem examination of the victim could have confirmed the cause of his death, the SHO said.
