Campus notes: ‘Ma Boli Diwas’ celebrated
International Mother Language Day was celebrated as “Ma Boli Diwas” at the Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT), Ghumar Mandi, by organising multiple competitions for the students to underscore the importance of the Mother Tongue. More than 50 students from different courses participated in competitions like folk songs, declamation and poem recitation contests. Prof Manjit Singh Chhabra, director, GGNIMT, emphasised that the “Ma Boli Divas” was celebrated by their institution to encourage the students to speak and also write in their Mother Tongue with pride as it is a medium that is natural to their expression and emotions. This event was jointly organised by the Thinkers Forum of the GGNIMT and the NSS unit of the GGNIMT. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr Shallu Sood, coordinator, Thinkers Forum, Prof Jagmeet Singh & Prof Gurleen Kaur of the NSS unit for motivating and mentoring the students. Yadav Garg of BBA 6 won the first prize in the poem recitation contest with his self-composed poem. The second prize was won by Komalpreet Kaur of BCom 6, while Parika of BSc FD was got the third position.
Graduation ceremony for Class V
The preparatory section of Kundan Vidya Mandir Sr Sec School, (Civil Lines), proudly hosted the graduation ceremony for the students of Class V today, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. The ceremony commenced with an inspiring welcome speech by the Preparatory Section in charge, Dr Nafees Bhambi who congratulated the young graduates for their hard work and perseverance. The preparatory section head girl, Sunidhi Ghosh, confidently presented a report of the activities conducted through the year for the grade V students.
Music workshop at Khalsa College
The Department of Music at the Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a one-day workshop on “Art of Voice - Care and Love” on Monday. The resource person for the workshop was Debapriya Adhikary, India’s premier classical musician, National and President Award winner, an A-grade artiste of All India Radio, and a disciple of Girija Devi. The interactive workshop allowed the participants to engage in the comprehensive session covering topics such as vocal anatomy, practical vocal exercises, practices routines (Riaaz) and techniques for maintaining vocal health.
