Man killed, 7 injured in car-bus collision

Garhshankar, January 21

A person was killed and seven others injured in a car-bus collision on Chandigarh-Hoshiarpur Road here.

According to information, Makhan Singh, Harvinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh, all residents of Ropar, were on their way to Hoshiarpur from Garhshankar in an SUV.

When they reached Bhajjalan Gate, their SUV collided with a CTU bus going from Hoshiarpur to Chandigarh. While Makhan Singh and Harvinder Singh got seriously injured, Jaswinder Singh died in the mishap.

Among the bus passengers, Rajinder Kaur and her husband Nirmal Singh, residents of Sikri village; Satto, resident of Ravidas Nagar; Sarita Rai, resident of Banjarbagh, and Manpreet Singh, resident of Hajipur; all from Hoshiarpur, were injured in the accident. The injured persons were rushed to the Garhshankar Civil Hospital, while two persons were referred to Ropar.
