MLAs Vaid, Talwar come in support of Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu

Ludhiana, February 24

A day after the suspended DSP levelled allegations against Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu that he was allegedly harbouring terrorists, two Congress MLAs Sanjay Talwar and Kuldeep Singh Vaid have openly come in support of Ashu. The MLAs have stated that the Opposition parties are trying unsuccessfully to create issues out of non-issues for their petty political gains.

In a press statement issued today, MLA Sanjay Talwar said Ashu was associated with a party that was known for its sacrifices for restoring peace and communal harmony in Punjab. Ashu is known as a leader who is spearheading development of Ludhiana, which was earlier neglected during the SAD-BJP regime.

Talwar said he had known Ashu for decades and he had always been known as the development man of Ludhiana.

Talwar and Vaid alleged that suspended DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon was a mere pawn in the hands of his political masters and was giving frivolous statements just to please some “leaders” for his own personal gains.

Talwar alleged that the stand of Opposition parties in support of a ‘tainted’ official such as DSP Sekhon also raised questions over their own credibility. He said Ashu had received several complaints against the suspended DSP as he had been suspended in the past too. Being a grounded leader, Ashu has always stood for the people. When DSP Sekhon was allegedly reprimanded over his corrupt acts, he started spreading lies about Ashu, alleged Talwar.

Gill MLA Kuldeep Singh Vaid warned the suspended DSP against spreading lies against Ashu. He said every person in Ludhiana knew about the credibility of Ashu, who did not need any certificate from either the suspended DSP or the Opposition leaders, who themselves had a dubious track record, he said.

Notably, Sekhon had earlier levelled allegations that Ashu had harboured a group of terrorists responsible for triple murder and a bomb explosion in the crowded Gur Mandi in Ludhiana. Ashu had already denied these allegations.
