I don’t have any info about the councillor’s arrest and can’t comment on it. All councillors had given affidavits that they were not facing any criminal charges.

Rajput is an accused in a rape case registered against him at the Sadar police station, Jaipur. Rajput had allegedly raped a 30-year-old woman, who is at present residing near Rajput’s house, in a room of a hotel in Jaipur. The victim had lodged a complaint with the Jaipur police last week regarding the incident following which a case was registered against Rajput under Section 376 of the IPC at the Sadar police station, Jaipur, on February 20, 2020.

According to the Jaipur police, the victim’s husband was arrested by the Rajasthan Police in an NDPS case and Rajput had assured her that he would help her husband get bail in the case as he had strong links there. The police said Rajput took the victim along with him to Jaipur on the pretext of getting her husband released. On reaching Jaipur, Rajput booked a room in a hotel and allegedly raped her. After that, Rajput refused to help the victim in getting her husband released despite several requests by her, said the police. Additional DCP, Jaipur, AK Gupta said the suspect was in the custody of the Jaipur police and would be produced in a court there tomorrow. The DCP said investigation had revealed that the suspect had booked a hotel room in his name in 2018 in Jaipur, where the incident occurred. Yesterday, a police party from Jaipur conducted a raid on Rajput's residence and arrested him.

Inspector Rajiv Kumar, Station House Officer of the Mataur police station, said, “We have no information about any case registered against Rajput. The Rajasthan Police had only informed us about the raid to be conducted yesterday”.
