Twitter reacted with shock and outrage at Air India’s near-miss in Trichy on Friday.

“Why'd the aircraft go all the way upto Mumbai like this? Why wasn't it made to turn around and land??? This is like flying on a Prayer and a Wing, literally!??” one user called Akash Marathe said in a tweet.

“Don’t understand this, the #AirIndia flight develops technical snags in the #TrichyAirport, & is diverted to Mumbai anyway” another user called Aslesha Belliappa said.

“News like this give me heart in the mouth moment. I mean the @airindiain pilot and co-pilot overshot the runway? How??? What were they high on?? #Trichy,” Chetna Sundaram tweeted.

"Only one way to explain this - God working overtime. Such delayed unsticking that it hit the boundary wall!! Phew!," a user called Manmohan Bahadur wrote.
