NEW DELHI: Three members of a family were killed as a truck carrying sand overturned on a car in Rohini here on Tuesday night. The deceased were a man, his wife and his mother.

Three members of a family were killed as a truck carrying sand overturned on a car in Rohini here on Tuesday night.

The deceased were a man, his wife and his mother. A four-year-old child was injured. 

Sumit, 30, wife Ruchi, 27, son, and mother Reetu, 65, were returning from a function in his Audi car to his house in Rohini’s Sector 15. As soon as the car reached near the ESI hospital, a truck lost control and overturned on the car.

The three died on the spot. The child had been admitted to hospital, said police.

According to DCP Rajneesh Gupta (Rohini district), the police control room received a call at 1.04 am that at KNK Marg opposite ESI hospital an Audi car and a truck had met with an accident.

The driver of the dumper was arrested.

According to DCP (Rohini), the driver of the dumper has been identified as Harpal (48) of Gannaur, Sonepat.

The family was rushed to ESI hospital where the three were declared brought dead, he said.
