3 of family killed, 8 others injured as SUV falls into ditch in UP

BALRAMPUR: Three members of a family were killed and eight others seriously injured when the SUV they were travelling in overturned and fell into a roadside ditch here, police said on Monday.

SP Devranjan Verma said the 11 occupants of the SUV were returning from a marriage function when the accident took place on the Balrampur-Gonda Road near the jungles of Quano on Sunday night.

Three members of a family were killed and eight others seriously injured when the SUV they were travelling in overturned and fell into a roadside ditch here, police said on Monday.

SP Devranjan Verma said the 11 occupants of the SUV were returning from a marriage function when the accident took place on the Balrampur-Gonda Road near the jungles of Quano on Sunday night.

While Khalid Islam (43), wife Arifa (41), and another member of the family Sikender Ali (45) died on the spot, eight others were seriously injured and rushed to the district hospital, police said.

The bodies had been sent for post-mortem, the SP said. PTI
