Yunus Khan, PWD Minister and sole Muslim candidate of the BJP, was on Monday fielded against PCC president Sachin Pilot from Tonk for the December 7 Assembly polls.

The candidature of Khan, who was elected from Deedwana in the 2013 poll, was decided in the eleventh hour after dropping Ajit Singh Mehta.

Tonk constituency is dominated by minority and Gurjar voters. Pilot enjoys the Gurjar community strength, while Yunus will have to bank on his community after leaving his home seat of Deedwana.

Cabinet minister Jaswant Singh Yadav could not get ticket in the BJP final list from Alwar but his son Mohit Yadav has been given the ticket from Behror. Jaswant had lost the Lok Sabha bypoll from Alwar earlier this year.

In its fifth list the BJP gave ticket to Nanalal Ahri from Kherwada seat after dropping Shankar Lal Khardi.

Jeetendra Singh Jodha will contest from Deedwana against Independent MLA and BJP dissident Hanuman Beniwal, who formed a new party.

Retired IAS officer OP Saini was given the ticket from Karauli.

Monday is the last date of filing nominations.
