BJP ‘opposes’ Dalit MLA’s college visit, principal quits

Ahmedabad: The principal of a city college affiliated to Gujarat University resigned on Monday to protest against the college trustees bowing to pressure by some BJP leaders to refuse permission to firebrand Dalit leader and Independent MLA Jignesh Mevani to enter the institute premises. Mevani, an alumnus of HK Arts College, was invited by principal Hemmant Shah and others to become the chief guest at its annual day function on Monday. — OC
