BJP veteran Tiwari, 12 Independent MLAs join Cong at Rahul''s meeting

JAIPUR: A hardliner RSS and six-time former BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari on Tuesday joined the Congress in presence of party president Rahul Gandhi. The Congress chief had come to address the party workers at Ramlila Ground here.

A hardliner RSS and six-time former BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari on Tuesday joined the Congress in presence of party president Rahul Gandhi. The Congress chief had come to address the party workers at Ramlila Ground here. 

Besides Tiwari, 12 independent MLAs of the present legislative assembly and Jaipur Municipal Corporation Mayor Vishnu Dutt Lahta were among those who took Congress membership at the event. 

Twelve MLAs who are accorded associate membership are: Rajkumar Gaur, Rameela Khadia, Kantilal Meena, Rakesh Meena, Laxman Meena, Sanyam Lodha, Babulal Nagar, Khushveer Meena, Baljeet Yadav, Suresh Tank, Mahadev Singh Khandela and Alok Beniwal. 

In the House of 200 MLAs, the Congress has 100 MLAs, and one supported MLA of RLP.

Hailing arrival of new and old members to Congress-fold specially Tiwari, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the Modi government’s ruling could be adjudged by joining of Tiwari who devoted his 50 years in Jana Sangh, RSS and BJP. 

Tiwari who quit the BJP in 2017 has formed Bharat Vahini Party but he himself could not secure his seat from Sanganer assembly constituency in 2018 polls.
