Eminent singer Subir Sen, known for his renditions in many Hindi and Bengali films, passed away on Tuesday at a private hospital following lung cancer. He was 81. He is survived by his wife and a daughter. Some of his well-known songs include 'Aa ja re nain dware' from the Dev Anand-Waheeda Rehman starrer 'Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja'. PTI

SC nod to Kerala liquor policy

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the Kerala Government's liquor policy restricting issuance of bar licences to five-star hotels only. A bench passed the order on a batch of pleas by Kerala bar owners. Earlier, the high court had upheld the state government's liquor policy which is aimed at making Kerala a liquor-free state by 2023. Minister blamed for cubs’ death 

The Shiv Sena on Tuesday urged Maharashtra Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar to take moral responsibility for the death of four tiger cubs from starvation. An editorial in party mouthpiece Saamna said the four cubs died as a result of a dispute between the Forest Department and the Forest Development Corporation. The incident happened in Mungantiwar's home district Chandrapur. TNS
