Dawood Maha mansion goes for Rs 3.51 crore

MUMBAI:Yet another property belonging to gangster Dawood Ibrahim has been auctioned by the government under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).

Mumbai, August 10

Yet another property belonging to gangster Dawood Ibrahim has been auctioned by the government under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA).

The dilapidated building, Amina Mansion also known as Masulla building, at Pakmodia street in Bhendi Bazaar was purchased by the Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) for Rs 3.51 crore.

The other bidders were the Akhil Bhartiya Mahasabha and Bhupendra Bharadwaj, an advocate from Delhi. However, they did put up the Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 25 lakh and their bids were considered invalid. SBUT, which is developing the Bhendi Bazaar area under the state government’s cluster development plan, said it would rehabilitate the tenants living in the building. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation had certified the building dangerous for human habitation.

Last year, SBUT purchased three properties belonging to the gangster for Rs 11.58 crore at a similar auction under SAFEMA. — TNS
