Seeking to pool their collective political resources in taking on the BJP juggernaut, three regional leaders N Chandrababu Naidu, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal put up a joint front underscoring the need to discern to vote out the Modi government.

Giving the slogan “Modi hatao, desh bacho”, Trinamool Congress leader Banerjee added to the tone set by AAP leader Kejriwal who, at a public rally, reiterated that if PM Modi is re-elected, both he and Amit Shah would amend the Constitution to do away with elections.

Naidu too attacked PM Modi for letting down the state after promising all help in 2014, predicting the BJP candidates would find it difficult to save deposits.

On her part, Mamata said the coming polls were different since both PM Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah unleashed enforcement agencies on opponents, scaring people and indulging in speaking untruths.

She accused the BJP of playing politics post-Pulwama even after the Opposition that respects security personnel said it was with the government after the strike.

The TDP chief also attacked Jaganmohan Reddy, whose YSR Congress is the principal challenger and hopes to wrest the state government currently held by the TDP under Naidu.

Elections to the 175 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly along with 25 Lok Sabha seats are scheduled for April 11.

The attack on YSR Congress is necessitated by the strong challenge mounted by Jagan Reddy in the state.  Today, TDP leaders underscored that Jagan Reddy, along with neighbouring Telengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, was working in tandem to assist the BJP under Modi.
