Don’t let imported articles enslave you, PM urges youth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today urged the youth to support self-reliant India, asking them not to get enslaved by imported stuff.

Interacting with the participants of the Republic Day Parade at his official residence today, the Prime Minister called upon the youth to make conscious efforts towards vocal for local by listing out items of daily use in their lives and then analysing the scale of their dependence on foreign goods.

“I want to assign you a task today. Make a list of items of daily use and you will be surprised to see the level of dependence on imported goods. I am not saying you should shun imported goods. I am saying once you list out the imported goods you use, you will realise how much loss we have caused to the country. These goods have enslaved us mentally,” the PM said.

He said an Indian product would transform into a global product only when every citizen takes pride in it and strengthens the spirit of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”.

The PM also sought support of the youth to dispel misinformation around the Covid-19 vaccine drive and asked them to power the government’s communication campaign on the issue.

Earlier, the PM asked the youth to “do their best for the country” and take inspiration from 2021, the year that marks India’s entry into the 75th year of Independence, the 400th Parkash Parv of Guru Tegh Bahadur and the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday saluted the ‘daughters of the nation’ on the National Girl Child Day and praised all those working towards the empowerment of the girl child and ensuring them a life of dignity and opportunity.
