ED questions Raut's wife in 'chawl' case

New Delhi, August 6

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today questioned Varsha Raut, wife of arrested Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, and recorded her statement under the PMLA as part of its probe into the alleged irregularities in the redevelopment of a Mumbai ‘chawl’ and related transactions.

ED officials said besides being asked questions relating to the case, she was confronted with her husband, who is currently in the ED custody, and some other accused involved in the case.

The ED has been probing the case linked to Rs 1,034-crore alleged scam related to redevelopment of the Patra “chawl” in Goregaon area. Sanjay Raut was arrested on August 1 and a local court on Thursday sent him to custody till August 8.
